Ancient Egyptian cotton fragment from Qasr Ibrim dated 200 BC – AD 300

A fragment of cotton. Along one edge is a linked diamond pattern with holes in the middle of the diamonds and a long fringe.

(B104) C; Z/Z; 1; m; u – fragment edged blue Z ply C thread, with two fragment fringe c.12 & 11L, sewn to it ; fringe, warps go round weft of 5?F threads (concealed) 4 threads C looped over this weft, held in position ? by two rows twinning, alternating blue, undyed; three other wefts run through in w.! warp ends twisted, some 2s, some 4s.
