Ancient Egyptian sandals from Saqqara dated 900 – 500 BC

A pair of sandals, made of layered and woven reed with bound edges and ‘treaded’ soles. The straps are made of twisted fibre which are broken. The soles of both have been consolidated with paraffin wax. The binding on the edge of the right sandal has been repaired and come loose again.
