Fragment of a pottery plaque of Bes. Relatively flat back, with a modelled upper surface. Shows his head and arms, but the plumes from his crown and his legs are missing. The edge of the plaque follows the contours of his body, and his ears project sidewards from his head. Most of the upper surface, and sides are covered in a white slip/paint over which red paint has been laid. Both colours now patchy. Black paint outlines the eyes and eyebrows. There are a row of red dots on a white at the base of his crown. The pottery is orange/brown in colour with a black core, probably of Nile Silt?
Colour: red & white & black & orange & brown
