Ancient Egyptian wool fragment from Hawara or Illahun dated AD 395 – 642

A woven woollen fragment with a rectangular embroidered panel. Selvedge to two sides. Natural coloured woven ground which has a raised surface, creating a fairly thick fabric. The purple wool panel is woven with a natural coloured embroidered geometric design.
There are ten warps per centimetre. S twisted wool warps. Finely woven wool weft.
