Ancient Egyptian linen fragment from Hawara or Illahun dated AD 395 – 642

Linen fragment with coloured wool embroidery. Plain woven, natural coloured with an embroidered geometric diamond shape design in green, red and blue woollen thread.
The embroidery is of long stitches over five wefts. Plain woven, A thicker weft has been woven every sixth pick. This thread acts as a marker for the embroidery. There are eight warps and eleven wefts per centimetre.
