Ancient Egyptian wool fragment from Hawara or Illahun dated AD 395 – 642

A dark mauve woven wool fragment with a repeating geometric design and border in ecru linen. There are long floats on the reverse side.
There are 16 red woollen warps per centimetre. The wefts are wool and linen with 12 wool wefts per centimetre interchanged with linen. Each pick on the linen is two threads.
