Ancient Egyptian wool fragment from Hawara or Illahun dated AD 395 – 642

A woven wool fragment with a border and roundel. Yellow covered plain woven wool fabric with tapestry woven small roundel with a stylised circular design woven in ecru linen. The border design complements the roundel with a similar central design and matching borders on either side. Designs woven in dark mauve and ecru linen.
There are 15 to 16 warps per centimetre.
