Ancient Egyptian linen fragment from Hawara or Illahun dated AD 395 – 642

A natural coloured, very finely woven linen fragment with a looped surface where the thread loops from each row slightly overlaps the previous forming a complete surface of loops.
Plain woven with 22 warps and 16 wefts per centimetre. Five wefts between each looped row, which has a double weft. Loops formed in pairs with four warps inbetween. Z twisted thread.
