Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Hawara or Illahun dated AD 395 – 642

A fragment of linen fabric with an embroidered design. Natural coloured plain woven ground fabric. There is a zig zag embroidered design in shades of blue, green, yellow, purple, red and orange.
The stitch is a running stitch over three threads and under one thread of linen. Plain woven with ten warps and wefts per centimetre.
