Ancient Egyptian wool fragment from Hawara or Illahun dated AD 395 – 642

Red woollen fabric fragment with tapestry woven border design. Natural coloured wool warps S twist, with red wool plain weave. A blue wool border has a tapestry woven floral repeating design within , in orange coloured wool. One edge is turned and coarsly stitched in black wool.
There are eight warp threads per centimetre.
