Ancient Egyptian linen fragment from Hawara or Illahun dated AD 395 – 642

Fragment of plain woven, natural coloured linen ground with an embroidered band design in shades of green, yellow, blue, orange, red and purple.
There are nine linen warps and 13 linen wefts per centimetre. The embroidery running stitches are over three wefts, under one. Each coloured thread is two, three or four ply.
