Ancient Egyptian linen fragment from Hawara or Illahun dated AD 395 – 642

Two finely woven linen fragments joined down the centre with a fringe created within the join. Thick linen thread slip stitches the fabric fragments together along their selvedges. The fringe appears to be stitched to the edge of one fragment.
Fine plain weave. One of the fragments has 17 warps and 14 wefts per centimetre. The other has 34 warps and 12 wefts per centimetre. They are not from the same woven piece.
