Ancient Egyptian linen fragments from Mostagedda dated 4400 – 4000 BC

Fragments of linen with an open irregular weave. The yarns are very thick, strong and regularly twisted. Bits of decomposed hide and some scattered hair adhere to some of the fabric. A small pad of thick yarn does not appear to have been woven into the fabric. Fibre type C.
