Ancient Egyptian wool fragment from Karanis dated 30 BC – AD 395

Fringed border from garment. Dyed brown wool. The border is 25mm deep with an upper and lower needle worked band and vertical threads, looped into a central strand, passing between them a intervals of about 15mm. Thick twisted wool is looped into the lower band forming a thick pendant fringe.
