Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Faiyum dated AD 395 – 642

Woollen cloth, selvedge along one edge made by taking weft over two strands of bunched warps, 4 to each bundle. Warp dyed green, weft green, yellow and purple. A tapestry weave panel in flax is worked on the purple portion of the fabric, a conventional floral design with floral border.
