Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Faiyum dated AD 395 – 642

Portion of linen garment. Between wavy floral stem borders in purple wool, tapestry woven, are panels – one oblong, one star shaped. The tapestry is woven in purple wool and undyed flax thread, connected by a wavy line and dot, purple wool, tapestry weave.
Tapestry and plain weave. There are 17 warps and 12 wefts per centimetre. Hand embroidery on tapestry roundels.
