Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Faiyum dated AD 395 – 642

Fragment of woollen cloth, the edge folded over and embroidered in red, green and blue woollen doubled thread. A triangular space is filled with small squares and lozenges, tapestry woven in red, the centre of each lozenge having a cross, embroidered in self-colour flax thread. There are ten warps per centimetre.
