Ancient Egyptian Egyptian alabaster cylinder from Amarna dated 1550 – 1295 BC

Egyptian alabaster hollow cylinder, white in colour, solid at one end, where it narrows in a step to a smaller solid cylinder. Decorated with 7 parallel incised bands. Accession list suggests it is a partially drilled cylinder bead, but the piece seems to been worked specifically on all surfaces. If it is the finished product, then it may be a cap for a kohl tube, the back to an earring, tip for a wooden handle, e.g. spoon etc. Slight hole in side near solid base. Discoloration around edge, possibly indicates it was slotted into something else at the bottom in order to hold another element.
