Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Oxyrhynchus dated AD 395 – 642

A fragment of woollen cloth with small detached squares, rounds and bands in tapestry woven purple wool and undyed flax. There is a central square with purple border and design. There is a swirly purple border in a diamond design around it with other squares with designs around it.
Tapestry and plain weave. There are approximately ten warps per centimetre.
