Ancient Egyptian Karanis deep bowl from Qaw el Kibir dated AD 400 – 500

Bowl of colourless glass with a greenish tint. Formerly isted as a lamp. Irregular circular ring base, rising to a bulbous body, which flares out to the rolled rim. Air bubbles visible in the glass, and there is a scar on the base of the vessel, from where molton glass was broken off. Originally would have had a lid.
