Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Oxyrhynchus dated AD 395 – 642

A square panel, linen tapestry woven in purple wool. The centre is solid purple with a geometrical design in undyed flax thread. Surround of double handled vases containing flowers. Plain purple border.
There are nine warps per centimetre with two or three threads per warp. Cut ends top and bottom. Sides selvedges.
