Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Oxyrhynchus dated AD 395 – 642

A square linen panel tapestry woven in coloured wools and undyed flax. A chained lion occupies a central square. On the deep yellow ground are birds and floral devices. A deep purple border, with a spiky edge, encloses the panel.
There are ten warps per centimetre and two threads per warp.
