Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Oxyrhynchus dated AD 395 – 642

An open woven wool, narrow strip, dark blue, embroidered in alternating diamonds and lozenges in red and green wools and undyed flax.
Fine plain weave. The geometric motifs are worked by counting woven threads, flat satin stitches with two ply thread. Net obscures the design on the reverse.
