Ancient Egyptian inlay fragment from Amarna dated 1550 - 1295 BC - Bolton's Egypt

Ancient Egyptian inlay fragment from Amarna dated 1550 – 1295 BC

Red faience fragment with red core, roughly rectangular in shape, but curved at one end and broken off at the other. Bears the impression of linen on one side, possibly intentionally. Similar in scale and shape to wings made for amulets which are placed on mummies, but these are normally blue, and with holes for securing to the mummy. May also be an inlay fragment.
