Modern Egyptian – after AD 1500 bowl from Aswan dated AD 1900 – 1920

Large coarse shallow bowl of thick orange red ware with grits and chaff, badly fired. With round flat base widening to flat rim. Coated with thick cream slip or wash on interior and exterior. Exterior plain. Interior has decoration in brown paint of cross hatched triangles on body, stylised harpoons on base and line decoration on top of flat rim. Similar to designs on some Predynastic pottery.
