Ancient Egyptian wool fragment from Antinoe dated AD 395 – 642

Loom-woven wool fabric with self-colour warp, blue and self-colour weft. Blue and cream pattern of diamonds enclosing rosettes. A fold in the fabric and the remains of some linen stitches indicate that this portion came from a seam. There are 15 warps per centimetre and 25 wefts per centimetre.
