Ancient Egyptian cartonnage fragment from Kafr Ammar Tarkhan dated 818 – 656 BC

Piece of painted cartonnage, probably from a mummy case. Decoration in red, blue, yellow and black. Winged bright blue and yellow scarab with part of a red sun disc on its head. The wings are detailed to look like feathers, and have the upper part checked in black, from which fans out blue feathers with red tips. There is then a section of cross hatching below this.
