Fragment of a wooden coffin, probably from the foot of a coffin, the end panel. Wood is roughly rectangular, but is curved away on two sides where it attached to the side panels. Along the curved sides, at the rear of the panel are dowel holes for joint, there are three on the left side, two on the right side. Between these holes, covering the centre of this rear side is a layer of tar or pitch, presumably coating the inside of the coffin. The exterior surface of the panel is decorated with a painted design and text. Though possibly insect damaged the design is clear. A kneeling figure of Isis, resting on the hieroglyph for gold-‘nbw’, is drawn in gold paint. She has black arms, feet, and her face coloured in. Her emblem of the throne drawn on her head is also black and this sits on top of a blue coloured wig. She faces a band of text drawn in black and behind her are black column lines for a second band of text, though this is partly destroyed and partly empty.
