Ancient Egyptian ball fragment from Deir el Bahari dated 1550 – 1295 BC

Nearly half of a faience ball. The section comes from near the top, and has a central hole cut into it. The outer surface is dark blue glazed, though there is now a patchy deposite of white on it. The internal surface of the piece has a pattern of fibres, criss crossed one over the other, presumably the fiberous ball around which the faience was formed. The faience varies in thickness.
