Ancient Egyptian body sherd from Deir el Bahari dated 1550 – 1295 BC

Faience sherd from a shallow dish. Blue glazed on inner and outer surfaces, with dark blue black decoration. Edge of a dark central circle on inner surface with lotus buds radiating out from it. The exterior surface has the remains of a raised, flat circular base, which has been painted dark in colour, and from which radiate lotus petals. Two holes have been drilled through the base to fix the piece onto a display mount in the twentieth century. Joins to 1907.90.5.a.
