Ancient Egyptian oil lamp from Hierakleopolis dated 30 BC – AD 395

Pottery oil lamp, with red slip, and ring base. Dolphin type. Round reservoir with a projecting spout. Central hole in reservoir, surrounded by a raised circular band. Hole in tip of spout, blackened around edge. To the right hand side of the is a projecting lump, now broken off. In modern ink on the base is written EEF 1904.
