Ancient Egyptian oil lamp from Hierakleopolis dated 30 BC – AD 395

Pottery oil lamp with a red slip, integral spout, and ridged loop handle. Several pieces rejoined in modern times. Frog type, with a modelled frog in raised relief around a central hole in the top of the reservoir. Hole in front of the of the frog for the spout. No potter’s mark. Traces of black on the frog’s eye and edge of the central hole rim. Written in modern ink on the base EEF 1904.
