Ancient Egyptian oil lamp from Hierakleopolis dated 30 BC – AD 395

Pottery oil lamp. Circular reservoir, with fairly integral spout or neck. Circular holes in tip of spout and centre of reservoir. Incised or embossed design on upper part of reservoir. Square section around the central hole, with three bands of lines on side, and five in front, framed by thicker curved sections. Possibly yellowy cream Marl clay. Possible trace of a potter’s mark on the base. Marked in modern black ink with E.E.F. 1904. F. Also a black circular dot under the tip of the spout which may be modern.
