Ancient Egyptian model shrine fragment from Hierakleopolis dated 30 BC – AD 395

Red brown ware shrine fragment. Bell shaped top, with a hole in the apex and three incised lines decorating the circumference. There is a projecting ridge at the base of this, under which is part of the cylindrical body of the shrine decorated with more bands of incised lines. On one side of this is the top of a square opening through which the lamp would be accessible and visible. It would probably have had a flat base.
