Ancient Egyptian bone fragment from Oxyrhynchus dated 332 – 30 BC

Turned bone handle fragment. Skittle shaped, with a spherical end, with two incised lines running around it. The top of the shpere has a smaller raised central circular bump, perhaps the base of a finial. The opposite end of the handle is open, the edge of which is broken, or possibly just chipped. A little way in from this end, are two incised lines on the outer surface. The surface is polished, and the incised lines may have been filled with black paste, or possibly this is mud from the site. The inside of the piece is hollow part of the way up.
