Wooden human hand, clenched into a fist. Handle of an ‘ankh’ or flail, distinguishing part missing, protrudes from the little finger side of the hand, whilst a small fragment of the stem of the instrument protrudes from the thumb side. Probably an anthropoid coffin lid. A hole through the palm for attachment to the coffin. Parts of the plaster or gesso remain on the outer part of the hand, yellowed in colour suggestive of a glaze or resin over the paint. The handle and instrument fragment have blue colour. There is a modern screw in the back of the object.
