Ancient Egyptian hawk figurine from Abydos dated 664 – 332 BC

Wooden Ba bird figurine on a plinth. Standing hawk with wings furled and a human face. Heavy wig, with lapets falling down the front of the chest. Traces of green on the plastered wings, paint or metal overlay residue. White under plaster visible head. Black painted eyes, and feet, and possibly wig. Surface decayed, and friable in parts. Traces of a hole in top of head, possibly damage or a fixing point. Two small holes in base for attachment to a coffin. Deposits of black bitumen. Black painted eyes, and feet, and possibly wig. Surface decayed, and friable in parts. Traces of a hole in top of head, possibly damage or a fixing point.
