Ancient Egyptian figurine from Abydos dated 664 – 525 BC

Limestone head broken off below the neck. Male, with plain wig to the shoulders in front of which the ears protrude. Beard, eyes, eyebrows, mouth and nose all finely modelled. Ears Plain, or possibly unfinished. Traces of black paint the eyes, wig edge and ears. Traces of red around the neckline and traces of gold on the eyes and ears. Two modern steel spikes placed in drilled holes to rear of head for previous display.
Possibly a Middle Kingdom shabti fragment.
