Ancient Egyptian cynocephalus figurine from Naukratis

Red pottery solid figure, with a flat rectangular base. Made in two parts and spliced together down the centre. Broken off at the bottom back and behind the head. Patchy survival of a pink tinted white plaster coating. All this and rough surface makes it difficult to specify type. The Old Index Card calls it a cynocephalus, dog headed, species name of a baboon. The creature depicted seems to have a human face turned to its right, behind which wings may have risen, now broken off. It appears baboon like on its left hand side. Traces of modern glue on the base.
