Ancient Egyptian statue fragment from Tell Nabasha Naukratis dated 664 – 525 BC

Part of the left hand side of the head of a statue. Made of grey stone, perhaps schist although listed as basalt. Softly modelled face and neck surface. The corner of the left eye remains, and the left ear, modelled over the top of the wig. Wig was centrally parted, and has striations running from the top of the head through the wig to the shoulders. The wig is broken off at an angle, but probably fell level to the shoulders. There is some white colour in some of the striations.
