Ancient Egyptian ball fragment from Deir el Bahari dated 1550 – 1295 BC

Part of a faience ball. The section comes from near the top. Incised lines radiate from a central point, splitting the ball into segments. These segments are alternately coloured turquoise and purple. The internal surface the piece has the impression of fibres, criss crossed one over the other, presumably the fiberous ball around which the faience was formed. The faience varies in thickness.
