Ancient Egyptian bone fragment from Oxyrhynchus dated 332 – 30 BC

Longitudinal section from a bone cylinder, decorated on the polished outer surface with two bands of four incised lines running around the top and bottom of the cylinder. Traces of what could be an intentional paste or just mud from the site remain the incised lines. The fragment is stepped at both ends on the interior surface, to allow fitment. Possibly a fragment from furniture, a walking stick, or a small vessel.
