Ancient Egyptian gilded gesso fragment from Amarna dated 1550 – 1295 BC

A fragment of mud plaster or gesso with a fine layer of gilded plaster on the outer surface. Roughly half of a cylindrical disc in shape. Gilding only on the curved face. Very friable. The object seems to have been composed of a white plaster, then a mud plaster and then the gilded plaster. A piece of gilding has become detached and is loose in the box.
