Ancient Egyptian hedgehog seal from Diospolis Parva dated 1550 – 1295 BC

Blue glazed steatite hedgehog seal, blue glaze is mainly present in the incised lines. Modelled hedgehog, with an incised grid on its back to denote spines, sits on top of a small oval base. The base has a papyrus motif incised into it. A single stem is flanked by two other stems that curl outwards mid way up their stems, heads nearly touching the base line. Below this is a ‘nb’ sign. Hole length wise for suspension. Possibly chip to the front of the base.
