Ancient Egyptian hood from Matmar dated AD 395 – 642

Coarse wool hood, natural colour, with heavy looped fringe around the face and along the centre of the head to the crown. Lower edge covering neck embroidered. Tapestry woven roundels worked in blue wool. The centre has an animal figure enclosed in a circle, border wave design outside another embroidered circle. Roundels at position of ears of wearer of hood.
