Ancient Egyptian jar from Abydos El Arabah dated 1550 – 1295 BC

Buff coloured pottery jar. Ellipsoid body with slightly flat, footed base. The neck is straight and rim flared and unmodelled. Rim bent at one point, possibly to form a rudimentary spout, possibly an error. The rim is decorated with four groups of painted lines in brown. There is a line around the neck and coming from this is four groups of vertical lines which fade out where the body bulges out.
