Ancient Egyptian jar with boat scene from El Mahasna dated 3500 – 3200 BC

Small shouldered jar with horizontal barrel lug handles. Light brown ware, handmade, ledge rim and lugs applied. Exterior covered with self slip and red/brown decoration painted by brush. With two scenes of boats with oars, cabins, one with double horn standard, one with :harpoon standard. :Type D41.
Mahasna, grave H133 1. Boat with 25 oars, two cabins, double horn standard, birds above cabins, double branch in bows, trees and birds on river bank. :2. Boat with 26 oars, two cabins, harpoon standard, tree above cabins, triple branch in bows, trees and birds on river bank.
