Ancient Egyptian leather fragment from Antinoe Antinoopolis dated AD 400 – 600

Round disc of leather stitched to another disc of leather which has been cut into a design to form an applique piece. Design appears to have had heart shaped flowers or leaves at four points of the edge of the circle, between which are just visible a stems. The surface is decayed, and the central decoration is no longer present. Pieces of an English newspaper adhered to the back of the fragment. Possibly a decorative roundel for a shoe.
