Ancient Egyptian linen fragment dated AD 395 – 642

A square of coarse linen with woollen decoration. There are nine medallions remaining, most of which contain purple figures of animals and people on horseback. Three medallions have lost most of the purple wool and there would have been three more at the top. Between the images are green and red woollen patterns. The edges are fringed.
