Ancient Egyptian linen fragment from Hawara or Illahun dated AD 395 – 642

A fragment of ecru linen looped pile fabric. Turkish towelling.
There are 16 warps per centimetre. Plain weave with the loop pile created along the wefts, with the loop formed on the face, followed by the same threads then woven between five warps. The wefts are woven in between with no loops formed.
